Superior Shelving Glossary

Definitions used on our Nexel site:

Add-on unit — Add-On units attach to another unit (either a Starter unit or another Add-On), and are used to lock units together to form a stronger run. They are generally less expensive than standalone units.
An Add-On unit for wire shelving has 2 posts and 2 or more shelves.  The add-on shelves attach to the shelves in the previous unit with S-hooks.  The shelves in the Add-On unit must be at the same levels as the shelves in the previous unit.

An Add-On unit for rivet shelving has 2 T-posts and at least 2 shelves.  The add-on shelves can be placed at any height.  They are not limited by the shelves in the previous unit.

Nominal — Literally means 'in name only'. When referring to size, it means that the stated size is close to, but not exactly, what is listed. Nominal sizes are always slightly less than the stated size.

NSF — NSF Standard 2 - This coating has been approved by the National Sanitation Foundation and judged to be safe for food storage.

Proprietary — Made exclusively by Nexel. No one else has anything that even comes close!

Shelf — One singular shelf. Can be placed in a unit, or wall mounted with brackets.

Starter unit — A Starter (standalone) unit consists of 4 posts (or uprights) and 2 or more shelves.
